Nathan Stolz is a contemporary Australian artist operating at the intersection of documentary and fine art photography.

Our values shape and define us, but what shapes them?
This question stands at the heart of Stolz's work, which seeks to understand why people are one way and not another. Looking for these invisible guiding forces has led him to consider many distinct cultural groups, examining how identity is established and transmitted in each case. With eyes for the strange, or perhaps strange eyes, he searches for sacred flashes to explain the whole

Nathan is currently on leave from a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) at Melbourne’s VCA to pursue A LONG & WINDING ROAD,
a new project exploring Australian identity in the modern age.
